In the past few months, we have been made painfully aware that sexual harassment remains a significant issue in the workplace and that our previous models of addressing it are no longer working and must be reviewed and updated. Traditional sexual harassment trainings often do not have their desired effects and can feel like little more than checking a box for a legal defense. But we know sexual harassment is more than a legal issue—it is a respect issue and a bottom line business issue.
Businesses that have a culture, philosophy, and understanding of the issues will be better positioned to hire and retain the talent needed to thrive in an increasingly tight labor market. Businesses must evolve and learn that the old way of approaching sexual harassment is no longer effective. Dynamic bystander training, business etiquette training, and interactive workshops are needed to see a real difference and realize a real return on investment.
